Many of the 2011 World Pneumonia Day events are made possible by the 2011 Small Grants Advocacy Program. Since the first celebration of World Pneumonia Day in 2009, the Small Grants for World Pneumonia Day Advocacy program has existed to help support advocacy events and activities promoting pneumonia control in countries where childhood pneumonia hits the hardest. The report on last year's Small Grants program, and the fantastic diversity of activist-run events around the world, can be viewed here. For this year's program, 24 organizations working in 14 countries have been awarded grants to support advocacy events that can make a difference in their communities.
