Shining a Light on the Forgotten Killer of Children – Kolkata, India

In collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatric’s West Bengal branch, Kolkata’s Institute of Child Health organized a three-day information blitz about child pneumonia. A large march and rally by parents, nurses and health workers demonstrated to the media the urgency of addressing pneumonia. Then, a publication release and scientific program brought together specialists and nurses from across the city to learn about the prevention and treatment of pneumonia, including how GAVI support could help. The talks also covered how doctors can raise awareness among the general public about signs and symptoms of pneumonia.
